Between The Marketing Is The Fun Stuff! Like My Dr. Seuss Theme Baby Shower

I planned and carried out (with the help of some family and friends), a great Dr. Seuss theme baby shower yesterday for my son and daughter-in-law, complete with custom t-shirts for Daddy, Mommy, Grandma, Aunt, and Cousin (Printable designs for t-shirts were found on Etsy.com).

I even did a custom shirt for the baby (not pictured), so that when she arrives, parents and baby can all wear their matching shirts. The "Baby I Am" t-shirt was put on a teddy bear and set on the parents-to-be's table.

When guests arrived at the shower, they were asked to do several things:

1. Pick a name tag for themselves that had something associated with a baby on it. They were told that they have to call everyone by their new "baby name". Anyone who was caught calling someone by their real name had to put change in a baby bottle Bank as a penalty.

2. Guests were then asked to put their fingerprint and name on a tree that my daughter-in-law drew and framed for the baby's room.

3. They were then asked to write their name down on a guest register, and guess how many "Truffula Seeds" were in the jar. (Later, the person with the closest guess was given a prize.)

4. They were also asked to write some advice for the parents on a newborn diaper.

5. Finally, guests were given a tiny Kewpie baby for the "Who's Watching the Baby" Game. They were told to watch their baby at all times, or someone else could "kidnap" their baby!

We did some great photos with Dr. Seuss photo props before guests sat down at their tables.

The centerpieces for tables were the fish from the "Cat In the Hat" in fancy Ivy bowls.

Lots of great decorations and gifts too!

There was also a great display of Dr. Seuss theme foods and goodies, all with Dr. Seuss theme names like, "Hop On Pop Popcorn", "Green Eggs and Ham" (green deviled eggs and ham and cheese pinwheels), "Who Foo Fluff On a Stick" Cupcakes, and "Beezlenut Splash" Lemonade!

We played several games, like "Dr. Seuss Trivia", "Guess the Price", "Name the Candy Bar", and "What's On Your Phone?". (Lots of printable games at Etsy.com)

The game that was the MOST fun was the guy's game "Birth the Balloon". The men were asked to sit down in a chair and blow up a ballon. They were then told to put the balloon under their shirt. They had to "Give Birth" to the balloon without using their hands! Needless to say, we all had lots of laughs!

The "Parents-To-Be", had a great time, and got some great gifts too!
